Netflix split to form new service Qwikster →
Reading this article makes me wonder about the future for iTunes. I have thought for a while that iTunes and possibly the iPod will become obsolete with the increasing use of streaming music via Spotify and other music services. What do you think about this article and Netflix new venture? Making all those subscribers switch services could seriously damage their bottom line.

Fitting that this was posted the day before the career fair? Maybe I should have read it.

Home sweet home
After a brief stint in Blacksburg and an even longer one in Europe, I’m finally back home for the summer. Looking for a job and hoping to have a little bit of fun in my last summer as a free man. For those of you who kept up with my Euro adventures, I thank you and apologize for falling off the map. I kinda got too far behind and too into everything that was going on. Not to mention our...

Carnivale!
Before I had stepped foot in the Montarina or tasted a Doner Kebab, I knew I was coming to Venice for Carnivale, Venice’s version of Fat Tuesday. We booked this trip long before we ever came to Europe or knew each other. Since our whole group was going to Venice this weekend it was a pretty exciting time for everyone leading up to the actual weekend.
When we stepped out of the train...

Michelle and Dad come to visit - Liechtenstein
One of the weekends I was looking forward to most on my trip to Europe was the weekend my Dad and Michelle were planning to come visit. Not only would it be good to see them and share all the experiences I’ve had so far but it was also nice to get some time away from the group and reflect on my Eurotrip to date.
Dad and Michelle arrived in Lugano on Wednesday night after already being in...

On the road
Sorry for the lack of an update lately. I’ve been on the road in Berlin, Prague, and Budapest. I will try to update my blog when I get back. I can’t believe this experience is already half over and how many cities and cultures I’ve experienced. I can now fluently speak 7 different languages and dance the flamenco as well as the tango. Hope my loyal followers are well and are...

The first 10 day comes to an end...
After a rocky trip to Paris we navigated our way through some pretty ugly streets and found our hostel. Unfortunately, we couldn’t check in so we hit up this little coffee shop across the street from our hostel. The espresso and club sandwich hit spot since I was feeling pretty bad due to lack of sleep and some mysterious rash that came from the beds in London. We then headed back to the...

London - Day 3
For our final day in London, Wes and I started the day by heading to Arsenal’s soccer stadium. Arsenal is a team in the English Premier League, one of the top soccer leagues in the world. We didn’t get to go inside the stadium because we were in a little bit of a time crunch but it was cool to see the stadium and imagine what game day would be like for an English football match.

London - Day 2
Tuesday morning we did as all Londoners do and went to a Chinese Buffet in Chinatown. The food was sub par, a theme of London, and the music videos playing were even worse. The playlist consisted of Lionel Richie, Britney Spears, and Rammstein… From there we headed back to Trafalgar Square in hopes to head into the National Gallery after missing out the night before. When we got there we...

London - Day 1
There is a direct correlation between how much money I spent in London and how many touristy things I did in London. The correlation is that I spent too much money and did one or two more tourist activities than necessary. Because of that I’m breaking this adventure down into a couple posts. Here goes Day 1…
We left Dublin a little disappointed but it was my 21st birthday and I was...

Guinness and that's pretty much it
After an early wake up call, a bunch of sketchy trains, a couple getting intimate next to me on a plane, and some odd smells in the airport we finally arrived in Dublin. Dublin was almost exactly how I imagined it. Being the American that I am, attempted to hop into the front seat of the cab only to realize that it was the drivers side because now all the cars are flipped and people drive on the...

Florence, the land of expensive leather and marble...
Despite not having reservations and a few people from our group having to sit on the floor of the train from Milan to Florence, we all made it to Florence (together for a change) and checked into our hostel just before dinner. Since it was late and most of the sights were closed we decided to get ready and head out for the night.
We went to Klitsch for dinner which was a bar with an apertivo...

Tuesday Tip: Walking Around the Block
When in a foreign place make sure you know that the block you think your walking around is actually a block and not a street that goes on for half a mile. You could end up getting lost and ending up asking for directions in an italian convenience store owned by a group of Indian men.

Brits, Beers, and Beamers
So after a long train trip that involved intentionally missing a train to wait for some girls who were having a photo shoot in a Starbuck’s bathroom, we finally arrived in Munich. After checking into our place and meeting up with the rest of the group we headed out for the night to a German club called The Milchbar. Just imagine a lot of sweaty German men bumping into you for a few hours.

Interlaken
Last Saturday, I headed up to Interlaken, Switzerland with my roommate and a couple of the girls from our trip to meet up with the rest of our group. A big group of people decided to head up there the night before so they could paraglide and ski the following morning. The train ride to Interlaken was surreal, the pictures really don’t do it justice. That is one major thing I have realized...

San Salvatore hike and a half
Last Thursday, our professor cancelled class for a hike up Monte San Salvatore. It was one of the first nice days since we’ve been here so we decided to take advantage of it by going on a casual 6 and a half hour hike.
After a few hours and half of a hike in the wrong direction up a mountain climbing trail, we all made it.
On our descent back down the mountain we traveled through a few...

Sunday in Milan
Last Sunday, the (4) guys and a few of the brave girls hopped on a train to Milan, Italy for the AC Milan soccer game. From there we ventured into the city and ate at a small pizza shop/discoteca before catching the metro to the game.
Since we were all warned about the gypsies that try to rob unsuspecting passengers, we were all on high alert on the Metro. We didn’t have any problems and...

Lugano
Last Friday, I arrived in Zurich at 4:30 A.M. EST, about 10:30 A.M. As I was walking towards the border patrol gate, I realized that I didn’t have my passport. After scoping out potential places to sleep in the airport I was greeted by a Swiss security guard and his rifle wielding partner. They then gave me my passport so I could meet up with the rest of the group. After a three...

M16s and Aaron Sorkin Movies
After a two hour delay due to an unattended suspicious package found in the terminal of Dulles Airport and a couple of security guards armed with M16s, I am finally on my way to Lugano, my home until the end of April. I’m writing this from the plane because I’d rather not watch The Social Network again, and didn’t plan well enough to bring some meds to knock me out for this 8...

Ringing in the new year...
What are your New Years resolutions this year? Maybe to lose weight or quit smoking?
Instead of making New Years resolutions, why don’t we set goals that we can work towards?
Bring in this new year looking forward to achieving something instead of focusing on a problem you want fixed.
Happy New Year. Good Luck in 2011

Here We Go
Well it’s about time for round two… or three depending on how you count.
In just 14 days I’ll be on a plane heading for Washington, D.C. From there I’ll be heading to Zurich, Switzerland and then onto Lugano where I’ll be studying abroad until late April. To answer your question… yes, I’m pretty excited.
This blog is so that my family and friends can...
