Interlaken

Last Saturday, I headed up to Interlaken, Switzerland with my roommate and a couple of the girls from our trip to meet up with the rest of our group. A big group of people decided to head up there the night before so they could paraglide and ski the following morning. The train ride to Interlaken was surreal, the pictures really don’t do it justice. That is one major thing I have realized as a glaring difference between the US and Switzerland. The amount of natural beauty here is overwhelming compared to the areas I’ve been in the States.

After getting settled in at our hostel, which happened to be a room housing 34 beds, we headed out in Interlaken to grab some food before our night’s advenutre. Night sledding. Outdoor Interlaken hooked us up with our group package for the night which included boots, sleds, fondue dinner, and a drink on the house.

The night sledding was like sledding at your local hill on steroids. The sledding course sent us winding back and forth on a narrow track that lead us down the mountain. I wasn’t able to get any pictures up on the mountain because I was too busy trying to keep myself on the course. After our run, we headed in to get dinner because we didn’t have enough time for another shot down the mountain.

For dinner we got a brewski or glass of wine and as much bread as we wanted to dip into our cheese fondue. I was wondering when they were bringing out the next part of the dinner but it turned out all we were having was the cheese and bread. I’m still getting used to the food situation over here. We then headed back to the hostel to have a little fun before we headed back to Lugano the next morning.

Like I said before, no matter where you looked there was an awesome view. With the Alps surrounding this little city it’s easy to see why it’s the extreme sports capital of the world.
